AlanOS Email privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026
Who this covers
AlanOS Email is a personal application I built for my own use. Its sign-in apps at Google and Microsoft, both named AlanOS Email, connect only my own email accounts. It is not offered to anyone else.
What it accesses
With the permission I grant when I connect an account, AlanOS Email reads my messages and their attachments, marks messages as read, archives them, and sends email I write. It never deletes or bins mail.
How the data is used
The data is used only to show, sort, keep and send my own mail inside AlanOS. When I ask for help writing a reply, the message thread is sent to an AI model to draft it.
The data is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to develop, improve or train generalised AI models.
Where it is stored
Mail is stored on my home server and in private storage I control. The working copy follows the provider, so a message removed at Google or Microsoft is removed from it too. Mail I choose to keep is retained as part of my personal records.
Sharing
The data is not shared with anyone, apart from the AI model provider when I ask for help drafting a message, or where the law requires it.
Removing access
Disconnecting an account stops all access to it. Access can also be revoked at any time from Google account permissions or Microsoft account privacy settings.
Google API Services User Data Policy
AlanOS Email's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
